99 Juta, Braamfontein, Johannesburg
Monday - Friday
9:00 - 18:00
99 Juta Street is a new development in Braamfontein. This renovation of an 80-odd year old building is the collaborative vision of property developers Consolidated Urban, Play Braamfontein and product designers Dokter and Misses.
It is conveniently situated in the popular neighbourhood of Braamfontein, close to the Gautrain, major circulation routes and local amenities.Designed by Local Studio, with interiors and fittings by Dokter and Misses who’s showroom occupies one half of the first floor. 99 is the new home to local product designers Joe Paine, Mash.T Design Studio, Monique Vee and The Urbanative. Alongside these permanent fixtures a program of design centric pop-ups will run featuring wood-masters Houtlander, a textile exhibition curated by The Ninevites and ceramic showcase titled 99½ Vases.
This new design-focused address’ pink and emerald green tiled facade is sure to turn heads. Two colourful inner courtyards flanked by high-rises provide sanctuary inside one of Joburg’s stand-out neighbourhoods. Transparent partitioning connects eight spaces over four floors, optimises natural light and encourages visitors to explore by means of the original steel and timber staircase that remains intact (circa 1930s). An externally mounted goods lift is a welcome, functional update to this old-new building.

DOKTER AND MISSES
Dokter and Misses is a product and furniture design duo operating out of Johannesburg since 2007. They are known for their whimsical and weird design language that fuses graphic and sculptural forms. In addition to their new showroom on the first floor the latest run of Moonjellies will be showcased on 99’s top floor. Their Dali-esque glass shades are blown from recycled glass by Swazi expert blowers at @NgwenyaGlass.
