KnexT Art Gallery is part of the KnexT brand, founded by “artrepreneur” Blake Anthony in 2012. It represents 6 years of creative vision starting as a small studio space in Woodstock, next door to the popular tourist hub Biscuit Mill.
From there it grew rapidly, extending the collaborative space in Woodstock, opening a gallery space within the Waterfront and a photographic studio/events venue located in the popular East City, Harrington Street, Gardens.
KnexT is a brand that strives to represent passionate artists from all walks of life, mostly African but not limited to just the continent.
KnexT Gallery invites you to join for the amazing exhibition of Mel Brigg fresh from Winchester Mansions, where the exhibition was on show for the month of March. This time, hosted in collaboration with KnexT Art Gallery for another First Thursday experience.
There will be beverages supplied by Stone Circle Brewery and BOOCH.
Unable to make the official opening night? This exhibition will be running for the month of April, so come see this amazing artist while enjoying the Eastside Cartel experience.
Born 1950 in South Africa, Mel is self-taught and started to paint full time in 1979. An artist whose career spans across three decades and several continents, he is noted for his support of institutions such as Child Welfare, Wild Life Trust, Save the Rhino Foundation, and exhibitions staged to draw attention to political detainees.
He also founded the Swellendam Art Society. Mel left for Australia in 1993 to settle near Dungog in New South Wales. In Australia, Mel has supported the Sydney City Mission, the Variety Club of Australia, Save and Amnesty International.
