Join Ebony Curated for ‘Connexion’, Zemba Luzamba’s latest body of work and his first solo exhibition of 2019.
Born and raised in the DRC, Luzamba moved to South Africa in 2004 to pursue his career as an artist. This experience of migration has allowed him an intimate and sympathetic view of migrant communities which has informed many of his works over the past 15 years.
“In order for us to function and to advance in modern day society, we need to search for individual links in our daily lives. In my latest body of work I am interested in the relationships that bind us, and how this affects us both positively and negatively. By painting on magazine pages on canvas I am revisiting a process that I first began over 15 years ago. This process requires me to examine my own artistic journey. I choose to portray moments in time that symbolize a true sense of belonging, highlighting subject matters that reference our own individual journeys.” – Zemba Luzamba
The exhibition continues until 31st December 2019.
